OUR PARTNERS IN EDUCATION

The Partners in Education Program is sponsored by the Cobb County Chamber of Commerce and the Cobb County and Marietta City School Systems.  Its purpose is to bring businesses and the school community together to enhance the learning process for students.  Please show your appreciation by patronizing our partners who support East Side's activities and programs.  East Side is fortunate to have the following formalized partnerships.  These are businesses which support our instructional program.

Amy & Tammy's Boxed Lunch Company – Amy & Tammy's Boxed Lunch Company is involved in a variety of activities at East Side.  They participate in the Fall Festival, Drug Awareness Week (initiating and sponsoring a door decorating contest), Read All Day Program and East Side Foundation.  They also provide snacks and gift certificates for teachers.

Pump it Up – Pump It Up provides active fun for all ages.  They look forward to strengthening their relationship with East Side this year.  They have enthusiastic volunteers who are willing to help in the following areas:  tutoring for ASP, Family Night, and school beautification.

Sunrise Assisted Living – The residents at Sunrise have acted as judges for various contests including the Heroes program and the Tom O'Morrissey Helping Hand Award.  Sunrise residents have also assisted in the classrooms and performed as guest readers for East Side students.  Sunrise staff has provided refreshments for Teacher Appreciation Week and the Fifth Grade picnic.

The UPS Store – Located at 4880 Lower Roswell Road, the UPS Store is involved with many East Side activities throughout the year, beginning with a Kindergarten tour that allows the children to operated document equipment.  The UPS Store sponsors a breakfast for students with timely attendance.  They are also a sponsor the Fall Festival, have judged our annual Hero Essay contest for the past two years and work with the Sunshine Math program.  Additionally, the UPS Store offers discounts to all teachers and teacher assistants and to the PTA for various printing projects.

Washington Mutual – This financial institution is the chief sponsor of East Side's School Savings Program.  In 2005-2006, more than 140 students saved $12,823 through this program.  Washington Mutual employees have offered our students lessons on money savings and budgeting.  Anyone who banks with Washington Mutual can designate East Side as their school of choice and earn points that are converted into a donation.  Visit www.wamu.com or www.schoolsavings.com.

Marietta Martial Arts – Marietta Marital Arts joined East Side as a Partner in Education in 2007.  They are committed to motivating students and teachers at East Side to increase essential fitness and discipline skills.  They bring volunteers to perform martial arts demonstrations or just provide extra manpower at school functions such as Fall Festival, PTA meetings, Science Fair and Tiger Day.  They also lead “Stranger-Danger” classes for parents and students, and offer special teacher classes.

Peachtree Gymnastics – To help further our goal of increasing fitness awareness at East Side, Peachtree Gymnastics became a Partner in Education in 2007.  They have active volunteers who participate in school functions such as Science Fair or Fall Festival as judges or helping hands.  They are also an excellent resource for Fit in Fifth, school fun runs and other healthy habit activities.

Other ‘limited” partnerships include:

PUBLIX (Piedmont Commons) donates a percentage of your food bill to East Side each time you use your East side Publix card before totaling you grocery bill.  (Cards are available at the school office.)

KROGER at Eastlake has replaced the Commitment Card program with the “Earning Plus Learning” program which allows customers to earmark a percentage of purchases for educational institutions.  Shoppers use their Kroger Plus cards to direct the funds to East Side instead of using a separate card.
